Skills advice from the Business Link service
The Business Link service provides Skills advice and support for employers as part of Train to Gain. This forms part of the comprehensive range of support the Business Link service provides to makes it simple for employers to access advice on all their needs from one place.
Business Link service Skills Advisers
Skills advisers provide impartial and independent advice to employers at no cost. After analysing an organisation’s Skills needs, advisers refer to a wide range of Skills support. Some of this support may be training that is fully or part-funded by Train to Gain such as NVQs, Apprenticeships and the Leadership & Management programme.
Skills advisers also refer to forms of support that are not funded by Train to Gain such as Higher Education, Investors in People, and Sector Skills Councils.
Working together
Advisers agree with employers the best way to work with them to analyse and meet their Skills needs. This may be done by telephone, or by meeting or a combination of approaches.
Quality-assured Skills advice
The Business Link service requires all of its advisers to achieve national standards for business support. Skills advisers are required to achieve a specialist Skills support standard that is set and assessed by an external body.
Performance of the Business Link service is monitored by government through a regular employer satisfaction survey. The target is that 90% of employers experiencing the service are satisfied.
